The NHL is back on the rise after a year that was a disappointment.
After a disastrous summer of bad luck, the league managed to get back on track with a slew of new teams that added stars, a new coach and some major overhauls.
Here are some of the hottest teams in the league right now.
Buffalo Sabres (23-20-8) The Sabres have won a franchise-best nine straight games and are headed into the weekend with the best record in the NHL.
The team’s roster boasts a ton of talent.
The Sabres are led by captain Nikita Zadorov, who is second on the team in points (32) and is tied for the team lead in goals (four).
Buffalo also boasts a top-six power play, including four power-play goals.
The offense also has a lot of scoring power.
The club is second in the Western Conference in goals scored (26), third in power play goals (4) and third in shots on goal (43).
The Sabres will be looking to continue that strong start against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.
The Penguins are coming off a 6-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the playoffs.
Chicago Blackhawks (20-19-6) Chicago is one of the most underrated teams in all of hockey.
The Blackhawks have been a top contender for the past five years, and the roster is loaded with talent.
Chicago has been able to consistently improve its roster every year, and this season, it has done just that.
In the past two seasons, the Blackhawks have posted the second-best record in franchise history.
They’ve added forwards Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane, defensemen Duncan Keith and Brad Richards, and goalie Corey Crawford.
They also have some solid depth up front, with Kyle Okposo, Andrew Shaw and Andrew Shaw Jr. all in their 20s.
Chicago also has some good depth at center.
Center Antoine Vermette, who has been a fan favorite since he entered the league, signed a two-year contract extension in July.
Montreal Canadiens (20.5-15-7) The Habs are in a rebuilding phase.
They are currently in a playoff spot after a playoff appearance in 2016.
That makes this the team’s toughest game of the year.
But the team also has talent, and it seems that this is a team that will make up for lost time in the playoffs this season.
They added veteran defensemen Kevin Connauton and Alexei Emelin, along with goaltender Carey Price.
The Habes are also looking to add some speed up front and to bring some veteran leadership into the lineup.
Montreal is also set to open its season at home against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
The Lightning won the opening round of last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs and have won the past three games at home.
New York Rangers (19-20) The Rangers have a solid team.
The roster features several elite young players and a lot is expected from the team.
There is no shortage of talent on this roster.
This is the team that is supposed to win the Stanley Cup.
The Rangers will be facing off against the Nashville Predators on Saturday in the final of the Western conference final.
This will be the team to beat in the Eastern Conference playoffs, but the team is still searching for its first Stanley Cup since 2003.
Detroit Red Wings (18.5
